 The most beautiful and interesting sights here are due to the initiative of Vicino Orsini, who was born in this area in 1523. He ordered to build a series of whimsical and grotesque sculptures in a wonderful park, later called the Monsters' Park. When his wife Giulia Farnese died, he had a small temple built in the park in memory of her.Among the most interesting sights, one may cite: Orsini Palace, a mediaeval castle restored by Vicino in the Sixteenth century. the Cathedral (Duomo), of mediaeval origin, partly rebuilt in the Sixteenth century. Under the altar, lies the body of St.Anselmo, the village patron. Other monuments are: Church of S.Maria della Valle, built by the Lante della Rovere family upon an old building. Church of St.Anselmo, dedicated to the village patron saint. The Monsters' Park, the place that made Bomarzo famous all over the world, dating back to the XVI century. In Vicino Orsini's view, it was to be a structure breaking any architectural and artistic rule of the time.
